The one thing that is causing us to keep one gotomypc account open is the issue of remote printing.

Yes, we can install a pdf printer driver and print to a pdf and then retrieve that on our machine and review it .

This is sometimes not enough. or frustrating or irritating or something

Enough so that we're paying to keep one gotomypc account alive and then switch machines on and off of it.

Remote printing is logged we will see what we can do. Thanks for the great suggestion, I know others would like to see this as well.

I wouldn't have to keep my logmein Pro subscription with remote printing support.

Can we please get an update as to where this may be in the development pipeline.

We are experiencing more and more a need for Remote Printing.

The request has moved higher on the list but not currently planned for 4.3 or 4.4 release. It is among a small handful toward top of list to look at after those projects are done.

We definitely would like to see the remote printing function be added to ScreenConnect. A lot of our franchisee's utilize this function in PC Anywhere and I would like to move them off of that program.

I am about to raise this with development again to see if I can get an update. I'm curious for anyone who is/was using this feature with another tool did you run into issues where it didn't work reliably? As I read posts in other communities and my own experience it seems there is a lot of room for error.

Also it appears that two or three modes of operation exist with remote printing. Would be good to make sure I represent the requests correctly.

A) The most common seems to be tech printing file on customer machine at tech location.
B) Tech printing file on their machine at guest location
C) Same as option A above however tech is at a hotel/different office/etc where printer is networked

Thanks in advance.

And another +1 for all three variations.

We have several users who we currently have to maintain LogMeIn Pro accounts for specifically for remote printing.

Matt, it is higher but I know development is still holding off implementing. This has been out there for a while so I would like to explain a little why. We understand the benefit and would like to offer, but we have also seen in some testing that pretty much any solution is not going to work 100% of the time. Which means implementation can get a bit messy and would create support issues. So this request is floating in this area between "a ton of work and not quite sure if it will resolve all issues" vs. "something quick and dirty that works most of the time". We generally like to do something small-medium size that we can build on based on feedback. But this feature just doesn't fit well in that model, so we keep coming back to it every release or so to see if engineering can come up with a better solution.

I know my statements above could create some debate on how to proceed, which is fine we welcome the feedback. But please remember my goal is to be pretty transparent on where this enhancement is currently positioned and the decision process we go through with each release. Many features are very cut and dry, we look for a volume of requests and then it gets done. Others though are trade offs on how much engineering time we have for each project and what changes will provide the most positive impact for the community as a whole.

Note: Just before 5.0 we did review remote printing and put it substantially higher than it was previously.

This is over 3 years old, do you know why people stop posting here anymore... because they are tired of asking for a feature thats available in MOST other remote desktop tools. We use Logmein for our clients who request this and most do. I hate paying your now premium price tag for software I can get from another vendor to do tings like printing remotely. I stick with you guys hoping you will add this feature and I check this forum maybe once a year now going on 3 years. I think I am done now! Looking else where for a new tool.

I pay that "premium price" tag GLADLY. ScreenConnect is one of the best remote support tools available - but please do try another tool if you want to. I feel like you might be back soon.

I do have another but it costs a bit more, Teaamviewer. It's worked great for years. I wish Screen Connect would get it together and add this feature. Its been requested for over 3 years. All other major players have it SC should also.

5.2 is the release. 5.1 will probably go out the next day or two, after final tests. And then 5.2 will go to pre-release, we have a few popular items resolved in 5.2 so we will probably make it a quick release of say a month or so. That would mean maybe sometime in March for official release.

You would need to keep LogMeIn if you want to allow your clients to access their systems. I was told that you are not allowed to do that according to the EULA of ScreenConnect. One people within your company are allowed to use ScreenConnect, so if you are support other companies they are not allowed to use your ScreenConnect. Just an FYI

+1 on this comment.

-1 on Remote Printing

People who are asking for remote printing are violating the EULA of Screen Connect (for the most part). Screen connect (and someone from SC correct me if I'm wrong) was developed to be an IT tool, not an End User "I want to get on my work PC from home and work" tool.

Please don't bloat out this great software (like LMI did) to be something it wasn't meant to be.

It is not against the EULA since it has been added to version 5.2 and the beta should be out in the upcoming weeks. SC advertises itself as a replacement for LMI so they need to offer the same features.

Agree with this (aside from the PC EULA bs).. yes SC may push itself as a LMI replacement but LMI has different segments of users, and most techs just want reliable remote centralized access to machines, which is why it was a popular IT tool. The self hosting aspect of this inherently gears it towards IT and away from consumers and IMO I think that is where product development should be focused.

That is true but for SC to be a replacement for LMI to MSPs it needs to function the same. Otherwise the MSPs would save money just sticking with LMI and would have no need for SC.
