It no longer respects the app.config settings (to not disable the wallpaper, and not show the popup dialogs).

Additionally, on the technician side, it no longer remembers the settings (such as popped out sections) when reloading the app.

Hmm, mine seem to be working fine on that build, can you post your entire app.config file here?

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<configuration>
	<configSections>
		<section name="Elsinore.ScreenConnect.SystemSettings" type="System.Configuration.ClientSettingsSection" />
		<section name="Elsinore.ScreenConnect.UserInterfaceSettings" type="System.Configuration.ClientSettingsSection" />
	</configSections>
	<Elsinore.ScreenConnect.SystemSettings>
		<setting name="AutoConsentIfUserProcessNotRunning" serializeAs="String">
			<value>true</value>
		</setting>
	</Elsinore.ScreenConnect.SystemSettings>
	<Elsinore.ScreenConnect.UserInterfaceSettings>
		<setting name="HideWallpaperOnConnect" serializeAs="String">
		<value>false</value>
	</setting>
		<setting name="ShowBalloonOnConnect" serializeAs="String">
		<value>false</value>
	</setting>
	</Elsinore.ScreenConnect.UserInterfaceSettings>
</configuration>

Pasting it, I see the issue. In the changelog, it's mentioned that the "elsinore" parts have been removed... It looks like backwards compatibility hasn't been maintained properly.

Editing the config file to remove those elsinore references fixes the wallpaper and balloon settings.

However, the popped out sections ("Misc", Toolbox, users, sound, etc) are not retained when closing and reopening.

The latest 5.3 update should address the app.config issues.

As far as the pinned tabs not being retained, what does the permission wheel look like to the C:\ProgramData\ScreenConnect Client (xx...) ?

here is the user.config files:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<configuration>
    <configSections>
        <section name="ScreenConnect.SystemSettings" type="System.Configuration.ClientSettingsSection, System, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=edited" />
        <section name="Elsinore.ScreenConnect.UserInterfaceSettings" type="System.Configuration.ClientSettingsSection, System, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=edited" />
        <section name="Elsinore.ScreenConnect.SystemSettings" type="System.Configuration.ClientSettingsSection, System, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=edited" />
    </configSections>
    <ScreenConnect.SystemSettings>
        <setting name="HostToAddressMap" serializeAs="String">
            <value>drashna.net=10.0.0.5</value>
        </setting>
    </ScreenConnect.SystemSettings>
    <Elsinore.ScreenConnect.UserInterfaceSettings>
        <setting name="SupportAccessDockControlPanelIDs" serializeAs="String">
            <value>4295036928</value>
        </setting>
    </Elsinore.ScreenConnect.UserInterfaceSettings>
    <Elsinore.ScreenConnect.SystemSettings>
        <setting name="HostToAddressMap" serializeAs="String">
            <value>drashna.net=10.0.0.5</value>
        </setting>
    </Elsinore.ScreenConnect.SystemSettings>
</configuration>

So, same issue as the last.
It looks like this config file was only being partially updated.
Removed the Elsinore sections, and it went back to working right away.
And I did manually reinstall the client on the system to make sure it was using the most up to date version.

Does this problem persist with the latest release? 5.3.8835.

I've already edited all the files to work properly, so I have no idea.
I'd have to re-edit them to verify.
