We changed the line "ScreenConnect" to show "Technician is Connected" when the screen is blanked... unfortunately now both the guest and the host's screen get's blacked out with this message. Any ideas what might be wrong???

What was the operating system of the Guest to which you were connecting? If it was Windows 8, we have a known issue registered on the topic. You can find out a little more information on it on the bottom of the following KB page: http://help.screenconnec...lient_miscellaneous_menu

If not, please let me know!

Im using the latest release, and this happens when connecting to a pc running 8.1 update 1.

So is this fix totally reliant on MS?

Also, I get the opposite connecting to a mac air, the screen isnt blanked, is that also normal?

thanks.

Not the same issue for Mac Air. I would contact support (support@screenconnect.com) for that one.

For the other I don't think the resolution is completely reliant on MS. I believe there are potentially other ways to handle this but the method that most tools used in the past of adding a layer and then not passing that layer to the technician is no longer ideal. There is some research ongoing around best way to fix (assuming it can be fixed) currently. I am actually one of the people assisting with this one, as I know more I will make sure and update everyone.
