I am new to using Screen Connect. Love it so far but I have a little problem.

When i blank out the remote screen it is my screen that gets blanked out.

This may be a setting but i am not sure as i have checked what i can find

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you!
Keith

Any chance you're connecting to yourself when this happens?

I have confirmed it is with windows 8 computers.

With windows XP or windows 7 the screen blank works well but windows 8 does not work

I tried to find another thread in this forum with my response, but I could not.

Either way, there is a known issue with Windows 8 in how it handles Blanking the Guest's Monitor and it actually blanks both the Guest's monitor and the Host's client window. To my knowledge, this is a known issue with the Windows 8 kernel and affects all remote service applications, not just ScreenConnect.

I can say, however, that the moment it becomes possible or we find a workaround, we will let you know.

Yes. Please get this bug fixed asap. On Windows 8 machines it does blank both my machine and theirs. The only reason I suggest escalating the issue to repair is money. Some of my customers I don't want to see or watch my repairs since if easy or duplicated could prevent further future revenue on the same issue later on another computer.

So pure greed! :-)

Please fix when you can and thanks for the otherwise excellent product.

Hey that is as good of a reason as any. We certainly want to do this just don't want to create potential issues with introducing drivers. Team is evaluating risks and then we will have a suggestion. I hope to get something done with this soon, but can't promise until dev team is confident in best resolution.

No update as of yet. For the longest time this looked like potentially a limitation of Win 8 that was going to take a lot of work to overcome, if even possible. It does seem it can be done and our team has investigated the options but the 'lot of work' part is still in play. We are currently working on improving many things with Mac, Android, and also the connection options for guests. We do hope to get through a few core enhancements as well and this one is certainly toward top of the list.

I too would like a fix for this. I just started using ScreenConnect. I would like the ability to blank the screens of Windows 8 computers.
Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.

This issue has been fixed in the pre-release version 5.2.

Hi
I have just tried this with the latest pre release and am still getting a black screen when connecting to a win 7 pro PC.
This was connecting from a Win 8.1 Pro and a Win 7 Pro PC if that helps.

Sorry also should add that this is on initial connection. Not when I am trying to blank out the connected PC screen.

I am sorry yea this would certainly be a different issue than with blank monitor. I am going to have one of our team reach out via email to see if we can work with you to resolve this issue.
