As we need to ask every time our customer to open browser to join session, I have started writing a small application that does the interaction with ScreenConnect and create a session as guest and join.

ScreenConnect Quick Support

WARNING

This tool currently does not use any form of authentication, Thus anyone can get the "Access Token" required to join any session under the ScreenConnect installation.

Here is the fix for above issue.
Remove "clp.AccessToken" from both guestsession.ashx and javasession.ashx. kindly note that each of this file has two instance of "clp.AccessToken" you can also disable that string by putting "//" at the start of the string for Ex. "//clp.AccessToken". Soon I will be uploading new files with the changes

Thank you Cresona for pointing the issue and guidance

Features:
* Create new Session & join
* Join Existing Session
* Create and install unattended client
* Option to use java client
* Proxy authentication
* Customizable (branding, hiding tabs)

Requirements:
* Windows OS
* .NET Framework 2.0

removed all old version to avoid confusion. PM me if you need them

Users with 4.2 and above need to change ClientLaunchParameters.ToQueryString(clp, true) to ClientLaunchParameters.ToQueryString(clp) in both guestsession.ashx and javasession.ashx

Version 3.1 Downloads
Installer
ScreenConnect Quick Support. msi
GuestSession.ashx ** Fixed version
Javasession.ashx ** Fixed version

Installation using MSI
1.Put guestseesion and javasession files in the root of screnconnect host installation (skip this if already did)
2.Run installer
3.Run application using shourtcut on desktop
4.Enter your host URL in popup window without "http://"
5.Do not forget to check "USE SSL" if you have enabled SSL on screenconnect

change log of v 3.0
  • SSL Support (need to tick checkbox while entering Host URL)
  • Support for Spanish and German Languages.
  • Code Cleanup.

change log of v 3.0
  • New Tab to install Unattended client.
  • Option to customize Display name and other branding options(using .config file will post the available options too).
  • Option to hide Tab.
  • Popup to add "Host URL" on first Run

Custom.config options (it highly recommended to use custom.config to customize the app to your needs all the values gets updated to app.config.)
<!--add this keys only if you want to use access installer without this installer will not work-->
<add key="PublicKey" value="" />
<add key="Port" value="8041" />

<!--Customize application-->
<add key="Branding" value="" /> Write here the custom app name
<add key="Tab1" value="" /> enter "1" if you would like to hide tab (tab1 = New seesion and next are respective to their no.)
<add key="Tab2" value="" />
<add key="Tab3" value="" />
<add key="Tab4" value="" />
<add key="Codelenght" value="" /> Change the character length of code field in Join session Tab

This does not appear to work in 4.2. I'm assuming that it's not creating the session. The error messages seem to indicate that the client can't connect to the session (that leads me to believe that the function call to create the session isn't working.)

I have a test environment that was running 4.1 and it worked. I upgraded it to 4.2 (which was the only change) and it no longer worked.

Here is the error message that comes up when I try to launch it against out 4.2 server.

I believe the problem is that ClientLaunchParameters.ToQueryString had 2 parameters in 4.1 but just 1 in 4.2, so changing it from ClientLaunchParameters.ToQueryString(clp, true) to ClientLaunchParameters.ToQueryString(clp) should make it work.

works with 4.3 using :

Quote:
<%@ WebHandler Language="C#" Class="CreateSession" %>

using System;
using System.Web;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Configuration;
using Elsinore.ScreenConnect;

public class CreateSession : IHttpHandler
{
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
{
using (var sessionManager = ServiceChannelPool<ISessionManagerChannel>.Instance.Borrow())
{
var Code = context.Request.QueryString["Code"];
var Tech = context.Request.QueryString["Tech"];
var JoinMethod = context.Request.QueryString["JoinAs"];
var Customer = context.Request.QueryString["Customer"];

var relayUri = ServerExtensions.GetRelayUri(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings, HttpContext.Current.Request.Url, true, true);
var clp = new ClientLaunchParameters();
clp.Host = relayUri.Host;
clp.Port = relayUri.Port;

var session = sessionManager.CreateSession(SessionType.Support, Customer, Tech, false, Code);
clp.SessionID = session.SessionID;
clp.SessionTitle = session.Name;
if (JoinMethod == "tech")
clp.ProcessType = ProcessType.Host;
else
clp.ProcessType = ProcessType.Guest;
clp.EncryptionKey = ServerCryptoManager.Instance.PublicKey;
clp.AccessToken = ServerCryptoManager.Instance.GetAccessToken(clp.SessionID, clp.ProcessType, context.User.Identity.Name);

var clpString = ClientLaunchParameters.ToQueryString(clp);

var url = new Uri(context.Request.Url, "/Bin/Elsinore.ScreenConnect.Client.application" + ClientLaunchParameters.ToQueryString(clp));

if (sessionManager.GetSession(session.SessionID) != null)
context.Response.Write(url.AbsoluteUri);
else
context.Response.Write("Failed");

}
}

public bool IsReusable { get { return false; } }

}

if you place it on the clients computer in a dir somewhere
then right click the icon
click send to > Desktop as shortcut .

then goto desktop right click > properties .

look at Target field on the shortcut tab .

"C:\somedir\somedir\ScreenConnect Quick Support.exe" http://websiteurl.to_your.screenconnect/

hope this helps .

Thank you...this works great. I am assuming it is not possible to edit the .exe file to include the url?

do a search on google for TagToogaSfx .

Thanks again....I will give it a try although it doesn't seem to have very clear instructions for someone as slow as me. But will give it a fair shot.

Can you please provide sample code.

I am sorry for not replying I was on holiday..

I have upgraded the program with better UI and options like proxy with authentication. Choice of clickonce and java client. Clear cache of java and clickonce client. And facilty to join existing session.

I am testing the final version will be updating op tomorrow.

Also those who faced problem with different versions of screenconnect all you have to do is change 1 parameter in "guestsession.ashx" as specified by Alexander

Hi....I am trying to add the url to the .exe file using the TagTooga like was recommended here. I just can't seem to get it to work. I added the .exe to an archive file. I am not certain what should go in the "Filename (w/path) of EXE within zip" Can you shed some light?

Thanks

Hi

Those hyphens are numbers or alphabets. or the code consist the both. I need to have exact format as current code is generated application initialization depending upon the random format I have written. once you provide me a proper format I'll check how to incorporate for you.

your version 2.0 installer does not work ...

you must be trying to install using a shady method .
our cryptoprevent security is not allowing it to run .

i never have problems installing stuff so you must be trying to run
something from a place that is blocked .

please update your installer or release the exe itself without the installer .

error i get is :

"This Installation is forbidden by system policy. "

hopefully its not related to the positive result here :

Hey teksigns,

I have had similar issues with CryptoPrevent with legitimate software. Usually it means that the installer or application is extracting some exe files to some of the temporary folders that CryptoPrevent is blocking. It doesn't necessarily mean that the application is nefarious.

understood .

but a simple thing like extracting a exe and creating a shortcut .
there should not be any problems.

just create a standard installer or release the standalone exe .

Its a chances of false positive. I personally use Eset Smart Security and i have scanned individual files along with installer it does not detect anything.

OK, for your kind info I have made installer with Advance Installer. Checked with Kaspersky also no threat detected. and used three dlls that gives that better UI and 1 vbscript for making shortcut with parameter.

Also let me know if you wanted me to upload individual files.

Here is the scan log of setup

Check op for zip file. All dlls with EXE no more installer, Kindly use manual process to create shortcut.

OK, for your kind info I have made installer with Advance Installer. Checked with Kaspersky also no threat detected. and used three dlls that gives that better UI and 1 vbscript for making shortcut with parameter.

Also let me know if you wanted me to upload individual files.

Here is the scan log of setup
http://r.virscan.org/rep...ef7293afdf3c149012b.html
Check op for zip file. All dlls with EXE no more installer, Kindly use manual process to create shortcut.

Regards,

Thank you very much ..

there is some text in your program that needs changed .

you still have your business name

listed on some of the dialogs .

Example the Confirm dialog says :

"Xxxxc is now connected if not click no and enter your code and click on join session "

can you please fix this .
thanks again

Hey Thank you very much. I have updated OP with New MSI installer also this time checked with Virus Total and enclosed the log too. I think previous installer was .EXE type and that was causing it false positive.

Also kindly let me know if any more issues or enhancement needed.

Regards,

Works great on 4.2 now! Just had to modify the two files that you mentioned in the OP.

One more question, though. Is there a way that we can "brand" the application? It would be nice to be able to choose what we want to have the title be instead of "ScreenConnect Quick Support"

Thanks for all of the great work!

next release will have that option too. Also added facility to create unattended installer, now working on silent install of unattended client. will update the forum soon.

Updated OP with Unattended installer screenshot

change log of v 3.0
Added option to install Unattended client
Option to customize Display name and other branding options(using .config file will post the available options too)

let me know about any more features needed.

will upload the setup and .exe tomorrow.

This is AWESOME!!!

Here are a few thoughts for improvements:

1. Branding... We would love to put our Company Name on the tool to provide comfort to our clients. Including changing the logo to match ours.
2. The ability through a config file to disable the "New Session" tab. Most of our clients will just be joining a session we create.
3. The "Enter Code" on the Join Session only allows for 5 characters. We have session codes that are greater than 5.
4. It would be awesome to have a tab that says System Info and it pulls some basic info on the PC (IP, Gateway, DNS, Windows Info, Login ID, etc).
5. I know you are working on a silent install. I assume that will have the ability to package it up for mass deployment (URL already embedded)?

Again - Awesome job with the tool. Can't wait for the next release.

error 404 is file not found. Have you deployed both "guestsession.ashx" & "javasession.ashx" files in the root of screenconnect installation. i believe it may be a cause.

I am running the latest version 4.2. It does not work for me. I receive a .Net Framework error. I do have .Net 2.0 installed:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Go to your installation folder and open .exe.config file with text editor
Find key "Host" and check the value it should contain your URL without "http://" if it starts with "http://" remove that part and it should work perfectly

also in future installation do not enter "http://" in your url as it is embedded in coding

Awesome app. I loved it. I would love to translate it into Spanish, is there any way to do it? Since I've translater my Screenconnect server files completely and it still does show the text in english.

Greetings from Argentina.

Mine said "support.somedomain.com". I changed it to mine and I still get that error.

I should also mention that in your steps:
Installation
1.extract all files to 1 folder
2.create shortcut to desktop
3.Run application
4.Enter your host URL in popup window without "http://" I never got this popup. I am running Windows 8.1.

You copy the guestsession and javasession.ASHX files to your root installation of your screenconnect install on your server. You put the unzipped files on the client machine into a folder and make a shortcut to the .exe.

Thanks..can you share how you guys copy the folder with the files to the clients machine? What is the best location for the folder. I was hoping we could just add the application to the tool box and run it from there. I tried running the application on 2 systems and it crashed on both machines. Any help would appreciated.

Thanks

you can create self extracting archive using winrar or 7zip. also you can use windows built-in "iexpress".

here is the link for the which I created

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I am running version 3.

I get this error when I try to create a new session. I enter the 4 digit code on the client machine and then click and the error comes up.

Yes, those files are in the Program Files\screenconnect folder. I went back and found there were more than one instance of that command so I searched the entire document and changed them all. I tried it again and I still get this error. I am on v. 4.3 of Screen Connect.
