Dear forum,

I'm in love with SC and how it works.

It is also the light-weight champion of them all.

The problem is when heavy-monster called Windows smash on top of it and stop the service, anyhow, any moment.

(My Version 5.5)

I noticed this happens now and then in around 5 % of rounded 200 pcs under my command. We handle (and happen) on both Windows 10 or 7.

I keep them stable with this 'vaccine' I drop to the command windows on the console, so the service start up to 3 times (2 by any problem/failure):

:--------------------------------- Force SC up&running
#!cmd
#maxlength=50000
#timeout=90000
sc failure "ScreenConnect Client (blablablaID)" actions= restart/180000/restart/180000/""/180000 reset= 86400

And also to turn everything off about sleep/hibernation dropping this 'vaccine' (tested working awesome, pc or lap):

:--------------------------------- Cambiar Plan de Energia = POWER
#!cmd
#maxlength=50000
#timeout=90000
: Esquema alta perfomance
Powercfg -SETACTIVE SCHEME_MIN
:Deshabilitar apagado de monitor
Powercfg -x -monitor-timeout-ac 0
:Cambiar tiempo de apagado HD a 66 minutos (just a lucky number to verify it did it).
Powercfg -x -disk-timeout-ac 66
: El boton de apagado/encendido es para eso:Setting 3=Shutdown
powercfg -setacvalueindex 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c 4f971e89-eebd-4455-a8de-9e59040e7347 7648efa3-dd9c-4e3e-b566-50f929386280 3
: ..incluso cuando esta en bateria..
powercfg -setdcvalueindex 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c 4f971e89-eebd-4455-a8de-9e59040e7347 7648efa3-dd9c-4e3e-b566-50f929386280 3

powercfg -setacvalueindex 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c 2a737441-1930-4402-8d77-b2bebba308a3 48e6b7a6-50f5-4782-a5d4-53bb8f07e226 0

---------------------------------

Those keep the setting in that way and those work flawlessly.. except for some persistent issue I couldn't find out for some pcs I mentioned.

Now my question: How could I assure to start the service via TASK SCHEDULER?

I need this started at least 1 a day. Midday ideal time to run it.

and what about to start schedule under admin level w/o asking since most of the time user's credentials are standard not admin?

Please also let me know if you TESTED what you are about to suggest.

Thanks in advance.

SC Client should start automatically after the machine boots. Your fix to the service is ok as far as restarting it the first two times, but you should really make it restart it consistently:

sc failure "ScreenConnect Client (blablablaID)" actions= restart/180000/restart/180000/restart/180000 reset= 86400

This ensures that the service should restart should it be killed even 3 or more times.

This will not resolve the problem where a flaky internet connection makes the service run but unable to communicate with the server. In these situations, restarting the service is the only fix I've found. I have a simple batch that stops and restarts the service for this purpose.

You could use the following mechanism to enable a batch file to trigger a scheduled task that allows it to be run on demand with highest privileges. Demonstrated in option 4 here:
https://www.raymond.cc/b...duler-bypass-uac-prompt/

Use the command:
net stop "ScreenConnect Client (blablablaID)" & net start "ScreenConnect Client (blablablaID)"

Thanks shawnkhall.

I did create the post to find out if that issue might be kind of common in this forum.

Pointing to that 'internet/network problem' might not be the main issue, since I did find again and again, that SC persistently come back after any network momentarily issue (change from cable to wifi or viceversa, unplug cable, reboot pc), even on pc that where several weeks turned off, never a 'reconnect' issue so far.

The main issue so far I found: the service is stopped anyhow, in all these pcs. When the service is up, not an issue.

So far is not big deal for a dozen pcs, the pain is only to get another Remote Control to wake SC up, when this happens and you need that pc.

However, what I'm gonna do is to get a precise list of those 5% pc that give me this issue, and dive a little deeper (Event Viewer, etc) to find out if there is a common root for this to happen, and definitely come back here and share it with you guys.

Also to see: does the issue persist on the same pcs? or randomly?

Thanks again. BigGrin

the only devices I have problems reconnecting to (with over 300 devices) are those with hibernation enabled. disable hibernation, problem solved.
powercfg -h off

As I added above, that was one of my main targets to avoid that, and those work excellent.
However, still few pcs (around 3~5%) even Win 7 or 10 indistinctly, service is turned off anyhow after all those precautions.
I believe I can handle those until I figure it out.
Thanks for your help!.
