Hello all,

ScreenConnect had been working great until one day it swapped to Spinning at a dotted circle or throwing the error "Unable to convert arguments to corresponding parameter types" depending on the browser. I have tried Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Edge. I have tried uninstalling the screen connect client and updating to the latest client. Uninstalling that and reverting to two previous versions of the client. I have tried an F5 and Ctrl+F5 refresh. I have tried logging into screen connect from an entirely different Windows 10 computer.

At this point I am at a loss any ideas/help would be appreciated.

The only recent change to my Windows 10 OS I am aware of is having installed the recent second fall creators update and java 151. Unfortunately the second computer I tried also had these recent changes.

Can anyone confirm if screen connect is working with java 151? I would prefer not to downgrade.

What version of Control are you presently using? Are you using an on-prem installation of Control? If so, on what operating system have you installed the server software?

At what point during your interaction with the Control site are you presented with the message "Unable to convert arguments to corresponding parameter types"?

Currently running 5.1.847 have attempted to run two newer versions including building a new installer from the site.

I can login and get to welcome build installer or start a new session but the page where I could see all the connected clients is where this falls down.

The ScreenConnect server unfortunately is not maintained by myself and is off premises however the person who does maintain it confirms it is working just fine for themselves. They however are on a Mac a contributing factor to my suspicions this is Windows related.

I am now trying under 6.2.12963.6312 same behaviour. I also attempted deleting all of java's temporary files.

I have noticed that I now seem to lack screen connect in add/remove programs despite it running. The previous version was located there and uninstalled that way prior to installation of this newer version.

I tried deleting every file file explorer could find associated with ScreenConnect and every Registry Key rebooting and reinstalling 5.1.847 no luck.

Tried starting a new session downloading the new client and running it. Throws Application cannot be started Contact the application vendor. With the following detailed error log:

A few thoughts:

1) You shouldn't need any form of Java to run the client on a Windows machine.

2) I believe you're attempting to join a session via the ClickOnce method, which doesn't "install" the client, which is why you're not seeing the client listed under installed programs

3) Given that you're attempting to join a session via the ClickOnce method, you may be experiencing the effects of a funky ClickOnce cache -- the following help article explains how to clear the ClickOnce cache using cmd or by deleting cache files from your system: https://docs.connectwise...Deleting_ClickOnce_Cache

4) If you have permission to install software on your Windows machine, you may benefit from re-downloading the client installer to install the client (instead of using ClickOnce). So entering safe mode and renaming the c:\users\username\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0 to 2.0.old

rebooting into normal mode running

rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache

from an elevated powershell prompt. Rebooting again.

The join session link downloaded an installer and successfully installed without throwing an error. However while it is running software version 6.2.12963.6312

Nothing has changed regarding my ability to actually join a session with another computer still just land on a page throwing the same old error Unable to convert arguments to corresponding parameter types.

Stepping back, you say you're seeing the "Unable to convert..." error on a specific page, on which page are you seeing this? The Guest, Host, or Administration page?

If it's the Guest page, can you PM me the URL you use to access the page when it happens?
