This extensions allows for Syslog messages to be sent to a Syslog server over UDP.

Instructions:
1) From the Extensions page, locate the Send Syslog Messages extension, expand the Options drop down menu and select Edit Settings

UserPostedImage

2) There are several options here, but the most important settings for establishing a connection to your Syslog server are Server and Port. For the Server setting you need to enter the IP address or hostname of the machine running your Syslog server. For Port, simply enter the port number your Syslog server is listening on. The remaining settings allow you to decide what kind of messages to send, the text content of the message and its severity. Please note that since different Syslog server applications expect different message formats, the message may not display cleanly within the server application; however, all the information should still be present.

3) Join and interact with your sessions as normal

Hello, Thanks for this! I'm having an issue where the syslog message is not showing the host of the session - so we cannot see which IT Admin connected to a staff members PC. Host just shows as null:

<134>1 2017-09-29T14:47:13.8525868+08:00 AUMELSVRG2 ScreenConnect - - [sessionid=2439a911-b230-4f0c-a2dc-781234569ae0 name=AUBNESVCM host=null guest=null isPublic=False type=Access] A session was connected to

Any ideas on where to look?

Thanks!

Hi michaelc,

This is actually a bug. The fix will be in the next version. Unfortunately, we are having some trouble publishing extensions at the moment, but we are working hard to resolve that issue as we speak. I will post here when the new version is available. Thanks.

A new version of this extension has just be published and should address this issue.

I've installed this extension on 6.3.13446.6374 and configured it to send the syslog output to my collector but it does not appear to be sending anything. Is there anything special that I need to do?

If you set up the correct server name and port, you shouldn't have to do anything else to get those messages sent. Some syslog servers can be configured to to receive messages over UDP and/or TCP. This extension, however, only handles UDP.

Where can we download this? Or is this a paid plugin?

This extension can be installed from the Extension Marketplace. You can find this via the link at the top of the Extension tab on the Administration page.

More information on this Marketplace can be found here.

This looks to be a great addition, but... All I'm getting in my logs is, as reported above, "A sessions was connected to" but no further info. Same on disconnect. Based on your comment, I upgraded my ScreenConnect to the latest, removed the extension and downloaded it again, and did the setup. I'm still getting the same result. Should I be adding something to default message line?
