The Desktop Notifications extension is now available via the ConnectWise Control Extension Marketplace! This extension allows Control administrators to enable desktop notifications in response to the following five host page events: 1) New support session created (note that this notification is not displayed to the user that created the new support session) 2) Guest connected to support session with no connected hosts 3) Guest connected to meeting session with no connected hosts 4) Support session received an unacknowledged chat message 5) Access session received an unacknowledged chat message Clicking on desktop notifications navigates to the browser tab that generated the notification. If the session that generated the event that triggered the notification is known, clicking on the desktop notification will automatically navigate the user to that session (the host page's active session group must list the session that generated the event for automatic navigation to work as described here). Furthermore, if the notification was triggered by an unacknowledged chat message, clicking the notification will automatically navigate the user to the session and open the message tab on the host page. Administrators can modify the NotificationRoleName extension setting so that only users with the specified role receive desktop notifications. The setting NotificationCloseTimeout determines how long the desktop notifications are displayed before being automatically closed. |

Hi Ben, I tried to install this extension but I do not find it anywhere in the Marketplace. Is there a way to get this?

Cool extension, thanks!
I would like to put in a feature request for a future version to allow for a custom notification icon.

An updated version of the extension that allows for configurable notification sounds should be available pretty soon. The update will still allow for soundless notifications if that's your preference. |

Version 1.1 of the Desktop Notification extension is now available in the Extension Marketplace! This version of the extension allows admins to assign one of eleven audio alerts to each of the five notifications (by default, no sound accompanies these notifications). You may preview the available sounds by navigating to the Admin page and selecting "Preview Desktop Notification Sounds" to launch the sound preview dialog: You'll need to add the sound's name (sound1,...,sound10, iloveyou) to the appropriate extension setting to enable notification sounds: |

Very nice update Ben. Many thanks for the quick response.
Unfortunately, I can't see the option to "Preview Desktop Notification Sounds" and it would be great if you can look on that.
Thanks

Thanks Have you updated the extension to version 1.1 on your instance of Control? If so, the option to preview desktop notification sounds should be listed under the menu displayed when you click on your name at the bottom left corner of the window (on the admin page). |

What browser are you using? |

I am using Chrome.

The desktop notification API is restricted to SSL sites only, at least in Chrome. I strongly recommend installing an SSL cert on you Control server. |

As far as I can tell the browser notifications only work if the tab is active... which kind of defeats the purpose, no?
Using valid TLS cert, onsite install, ver 6.6.18120.6697
Browser: Chrome Version 68.0.3440.75

@JellyKid @shawnkhall I wasn't able to replicate this using Chrome. After allowing Notifications from the site, I connected as a Guest to a support session with a separate tab currently in focus and the system notification appeared as expected. The browser still had system focus, does the same happen for you? |

@scott So I did some further testing and I think the issue is that it's intermittent. If the tab is focused on the connectwise control screen, notifications always popup. If the tab is focused somewhere else it will be completely random as to if I get the notification or not.... strange really. Maybe you can test further and see if you can replicate what I'm seeing.

@Scott - It is also dependent on how many instance tabs you have open. If you open more than one tab to your SC instance then you'll find that the notifications are quite random and often pop only when you switch back to one of the instance tabs.
