Well we are about to roll out Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.1 DE and have hit a huge stumbling block. ScreenConnect does not work with it or even any other Unity based DE from what I have been told and read.

Couple of interesting threads

So even after a year the problem has not been resolved?! One suggestion was to downgrade OpenJDK to version 7 which is not even within the standard PPAs as it's not legacy.

Is it time to start considering another solution ?

Good Afternoon INNOVOT,

If possible, could you please provide us with some additional information about the problem you are facing?
- Are you getting a black screen on the host side, while connecting to a Linux Mint 18.1 (Cinnamon DE) Guest?
- If not, is the desktop being rendered incorrectly on the host side?
- What version of Java has been installed on the Guest?

This is what I got back from support.

I talked to one of our dev guys, it does look like this is a known issue regarding Java, which is the framework that we use for ScreenConnect. They actually gave me some links that could relate to this issue on a variety of desktop managers.

I will pass your feedback on. Feel free to reply to this email if you have any further questions on this.

Thanks for contacting Control support!

Which basically tells me there is a problem in Java and its been outstanding for over a year.

We are having the same issue with a few clients we are attempting to deploy. They are running Mint 18.1 Cinnimon, and have SC client 6.2.12963.6312 installed. We are able to see the desktop Icons, and some windows. Not all applications appear.
