I have a customer who is switching from Windows based POS registers to iPad based, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get them setup with screenconnect. I managed to get a "support" session going (seemed to be view only, but that is ok) by opening the website on the ipad and entering the code for it. I would very much prefer an Access install, though I don't know if that is possible. The "install access" option on the connected support session seemed to do nothing at all.
Or perhaps just some way to save a direct session link on the iPads, so that the user need only click the app to initiate a control connection.
Any suggestions? I'm using a self-hosted SC 6.5, with the latest version of Connectwise Control installed on the iPads.

So right now Apple does not allow our Access functionality to be implemented into iOS. Each session must be joined manually and cannot persist through device restarts, etc.
With that said, your suggestion for the possibility of a direct session link, or just a URL that when launched on the device would create a new session and them attempt to join it from the Guest, might be possible.
I'm going to register something with PM and do a little digging to see what can be done. |

Sorry @SoCo_Systems I forgot to follow up on this. Keep an eye out for an Extension named similar to "Auto Session Joiner" that basically provides you with a way to have a Guest automatically Create and Join a session by invoking a specific web request within a browser. Right now, the URL is: Code:
https://my.screenconnect.com/Guest.aspx?Action=CreateAndJoinSession
When a user loads that URL on just about any type of device (iOS, Android, Windows desktop, etc) it will automatically create a Support session and initiate the session joining process. I foresee the basic workflow is that you place that url within an anchor on a separate webpage and direct the Guest to click/tap on it. I just submitted the Extension to QA so give it another week-ish before it's live. |
