We have a "catchall" session group utilizing the NOT $OTHEROR variable to sort machines that aren't in any other group. This group suddenly stopped working. After contacting support we were told this is a known issue with no workaround. I'm posting here for anyone with similar issues. I couldn't find any kind of bug report prior contacting support.

"There unfortunately is an issue with using this variable if you have a large number of session groups. What happens is in the database, the SQL statement becomes to long and its not able to process. There is no workaround at this time for this other than reorganizing the groups to limit how many are needed"

I figured as much. I'll add this to the list of reasons I haven't upgraded beyond 6.5.

This isn't a problem unique to any specific version, it's a restriction of the .NET framework and how it handles very long strings. To my knowledge it's been around since we introduced Session Group filtering.

This specific post goes deeper into explain how $OTHEROR and $OTHERAND variables work. The problem is that when the OR'd together list of filters gets too long it no longer gets applied and thus does not filter any sessions. It's a limitation within .NET and while we're not against finding a solution it hasn't been a huge priority. With that said I will bump the registered issue on your behalf(s).
