I'm a linux ignoramus and I've not looked at this for about a year so forgotten much of what I need to know.

The first thing I'm trying to do on my Ubuntu VPS is to stop the screenconnect service but I can't even find it. in etc/init.d there is no screenconnect - the closest I can find is screen-cleanup. So I can't even get started on the update. Any ideas how to progress from this roadblock?

Did you perhaps rename the service when you originally installed it?

You can use grep to search all of the files in /etc/init.d for a phrase that should be in the file, "screenconnectPath". The command would look like:

sudo grep "screenconnectPath" /etc/init.d/*

That should kick out the name of the file that contains that phrase, assuming its within that directory.
