Problem:

One of your unattended access machines connects to your server and you can actually connect to it as a host, but it has no taskbar icon and you cant chat/send files etc, due to lack of any kind of GUI or windows client that's loaded on the unattended machine.

Solution:

As always, backup your registry before making any changes.

After ensuring the taskbar icon for the app is not just turned off (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/292-system-icons-turn-off.html), you may have a rare scenario where the computer is a 64 bit OS but it can't run 64 bit .NET applications (like ours).

You can try to find a key in your registry that is forbidding apps to run in 64 bit mode. Look here:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework

for a key with the name "Enable_64Bit"

If the value is "0" that is your culprit. Change it to 1, save and reboot.

As always, backup your registry before making any changes.
